Attention Motor Carriers

In the coming months, access by U.S. DOT Number and U.S. DOT Number PIN will be disabled on the SMS Website. You will be able to log in via the FMCSA Portal.   You will also be able to log in directly via the CSA Website with your Portal credentials. To prepare for this transition, register for a Portal account today.

To register for a Portal account:

1. Visit the Portal's Account Request page or select the registration link on the Portal login screen

2. Select Company Employee or an Associate of a Company, and click Next

3. Enter your U.S. DOT Number, and click Lookup

4. Select Company Official from the Available Roles box, and click Add Role

5. Click Next

6. Follow the onscreen prompts to complete your registration

Once logged into the Portal, you access your complete safety profile on the SMS Website by selecting the A&I (SMS) link in the Available FMCSA Systems box. You can also view a summary of your BASIC information by selecting the BASICs SMS Summary tab in the Company Information box. For assistance with registration, call 1-800-832-5660.
