Log In to Access Safety Planner

If you are not an authorized user (FMCSA, State Partner, or motor carrier), please return to the Safety Planner home page.

How to Log In via the FMCSA Portal

To protect your data and make access more secure, Safety Planner now requires multifactor authentication. Users will no longer enter a Portal user ID and passwords or a U.S. DOT Number and PIN.

  3. Step Three After logging in to the FMCSA Portal, select "Safety Planner (ETA)" from the “Available FMCSA Systems” list, then click the “Go” button. This will take you to the Safety Planner home page as a logged in user.

FMCSA is using to allow you to sign in to Safety Planner safely and securely.


Why do I need a account? allows non-Federal users, including motor carriers and State enforcement, to sign in to Safety Planner safely and securely. You will use your username (email address) and password each time you log in to Safety Planner.

Note: Federal employees and contractors do not need a account, use the link above to log in via MyAccess using your PIV card.

If I already have a account, do I need to create a new one?

No. If you already have a account, for example to access a different government system, you can log in using your existing account to access Safety Planner.
