FMCSA Announces a New MCSAC Subcommittee on CSA

August 07, 2012

As part of its continued effort to improve motor carrier safety on the Nation’s roads, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has formed a Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee (MCSAC) subcommittee for the Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program. On Friday, August 3, 2012, FMCSA published a Federal Register Notice to formally announce the CSA subcommittee that will meet during the next MCSAC meeting on August 27–28, 2012 (http://www.regulations.gov/#!documentDetail;D=FMCSA-2006-26367-0107).

The CSA program has made significant strides in reaching more motor carriers, reducing violations, and increasing public awareness. Feedback from carriers, safety advocates, law enforcement, industry, and other members of the public remain a valued part of this process.

This MCSAC subcommittee will be another mechanism for the Agency to receive input regarding CSA. This established forum encourages representatives from across the spectrum of safety stakeholders to review and discuss future enhancements to CSA. The FMCSA looks forward to receiving the subcommittee’s feedback and building upon the well-founded principles and rigorous processes used to develop CSA.
