FMCSA Updates SMS Website, Stand Against Impaired Driving: Query the Clearinghouse

December 16, 2022

FMCSA Updates SMS Website

FMCSA has updated the SMS Website with the November 25, 2022 results. Complete SMS results are available to enforcement users and motor carriers that are logged into the SMS Website.

As of December 1, 2022, SMS now includes the following ELD violation in the HOS Compliance BASIC with a severity weight of 3:

  • 395.24D: ELD cannot transfer ELD records electronically

This violation will be reflected in the December 30, 2022 SMS run, which will be released in early January. Violations cited prior to December 1, 2022 will not be used in the SMS calculations. This change will further align SMS with the latest changes to violations recorded as part of FMCSA’s roadside inspection program.

Stand Against Impaired Driving: Query the Clearinghouse

Together with our partners in the industry, FMCSA is working to increase the number of employers of CDL drivers registered for and querying the Clearinghouse, as required by Federal regulations. By helping ensure that your peers, clients, members, and other stakeholders are educated about their Clearinghouse requirements, you are helping to prevent impaired driving of CMVs, and helping to make our Nation’s roads safer for everyone. FMCSA partners can download materials to help educate stakeholders about their requirements under the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse at https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/Resource/Page/Stand-Against-Impaired-Driving.
