The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has extended the comment period for the proposed redesign of the Safety Measurement System (SMS) public website in response to a request from the Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety. The comment period began on November 5, 2013, and
comments are now due by January 21, 2014. For more information on the extension of the comment period, see the December 17, 2013 Federal Register Notice,

Also in January, in response to stakeholder feedback, FMCSA will update insurance information on the proposed public SMS website. A link to the Agency’s Licensing and Insurance (L&I) website will remain available on the page to provide easy access to detailed insurance information.
The Agency will continue to review and consider other comments through the FR Notice and will provide a formal response, which may include additional changes intended to clarify and improve the display, after the comment period closes.
